The Water's Edge

by Shirley Houston   Dec 8, 2013

Stilled, in awe at water's edge/

as angels paint in billowed depth/

pearl & ashen vapored mists/

on canvas brushed with amethyst/

surrendering, I close my eyes/

to revel in this sacred time/

as dreams extend expectant hands/

intrigued, my soul begins its stand/

rebuking thoughts that rape the heart/

silencing voices in the dark/

opposing doubts & sleepless nights/

with contrasting golden rays of light/

furloughed into infinity/

She rediscovers destiny/

in truth I know that I am free/

in truth I know that I must speak/

incite the storms that vex the sea/

cause sands to shift beneath my feet/

remind me of my passion's draw/

remind me of my sacred call/

Stilled, in awe at water's edge/

as angels paint in pristine depth/

a portrait in eternity/

considering my legacy
