A secret to the grave

by AngelEyez89   Feb 16, 2014

My makeup is applied like war paint
A mask of cool beautiful indifference
It's a convincing act for everyone
Who doesn't know who I am

The calm I portray externally
Is a front for the war raging inside.
Those desolate, faded memories
All that keeps me warm.

Your heart is black and withered
Do you even feel it beating anymore?
Ruined, I love you anyway.
Because that's just what I do.

The world keeps on spinning
And I never thought it possible
To live without you, heart and hand
I hope you're happy with yourself.

You gave me the illusion on freedom
With a collar still on my neck
The darkness chases me endlessly
But I'll run my feet bleeding towards the light

The past cannot be rewritten
And never again will you feel my warmth
Yet still, I'll die with this secret
I love your withered heart
