Shoreline gazing

by Darren   Aug 6, 2015

Gazing at the shoreline
realisation ripped his soul
from under feet
sodden wet with tears.

Tears of real sadness
so insignificant compared
to those vast waters
sprawled out in front of him.

Taking all his thoughts
self doubts and fears
carried in a heavy mind
he began to stumble.

Out to sea, he fell
diving under the duvet
of salt water and seaweed
gaping mouth, fishlike, filling.

We are all left wondering
whether suicide is the killer
or the sadness that provokes
these acts of madness.
