Welcome to my life

by Darren   Aug 6, 2015

I learnt the value of determination
the day you looked passed the excess baggage
cut through the tormented darkness
convinced me that my mind was not lost
just stolen too soon
you told me to write what I feel
because my voice was voiceless
my cry was dry
my pity was pitiful
my desire was desecrated
my warnings no longer parting shots
I locked myself away in my mind
behind a door that hung heavy in my heart
crouched in a ball
small and easily missed
I hoped

yet you found that key
and simply whispered

'welcome to my life'

A powerful poem, Darren, with great use of metaphor and alliteration which are perfect tools for a sad poem like this. Nice to see the hope in it too, though.
    All the best,
