The Weird-Establishment

** Background story - This is a recent poem I wrote as part of a word challenge posted on my website/community. I was trying to be humours and expressive, whilst having fun.

I certainly enjoyed writing it.

"The Weird-Establishment"

I sought out changes,
To refresh my mind,
And to find a place to eat,
So the past was left behind,

I found a new location,
And all seemed great,
Then I noticed nectar on the menu,
Which sealed all but my fate,

The Establishment at glance,
Had a good appearance,
Everything looked clean and new,
Yet something crushed my perseverance,

In the window there was a pig-sticker,
With David's dear best friend,
Appearing in writing by its side,
A weird style of trend,

On one wall,
I could see an eagle,
It's claws sharp like daggers,
And in one corner a stuffed beagle!

Feeling taken back,
I went to leave,
And just as I did,
In entered 'Steve',

Declaring his passion for suckle,
He boasted with glee,
And that was the point,
I decided to flee!
