Resist

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Mar 6, 2016

The minutes feel like hours
And hours feel like forever
But somehow when we're together
Time always seem to run
I might've taken it for granted
Maybe I couldn't understand it
But now I see the beauty of it all
And I think back to how it was

We weren't ready, but the fire was there
And with that heat, I felt you everywhere
I could hear your voice calling me, I swear
Your energy was pulling on my hair
I couldn't resist your existence

The moon told the stars to awaken
And no feeling was mistaken
I knew that you knew that I wanted you
But even when I needed you closer
I could tell that it was all over
Can still hear the echoes of when you told her
That you loved her, too

Cause we weren't ready, but the flames were sparked
And the heat somehow was the key to my heart
But I can't hear you now since we're apart
Yet, even alone wide awake in the dark
I still can't resist your existence

Destroyed by a feeling that once made me whole
Now I have to go through hell to get the heart you stole
So much for wasted times and unappreciated nights
How could such a sweet hello turn into a sour goodbye?

We weren't ready so the fire died down
And the heat was replaced by the cold somehow
Your voice is just another noise in the background
Your face just another part of the crowd
Your existence I'll have to resist

A really good narrative of what happens when we love and when our love gets thrown back at us. I really enjoyed this.
