The Truth

by Courtney Hough   May 29, 2017

Depression,
It is not selfish like you think.
No, wanting to make others “normal.”
That is what is selfish.
Those usually down,
It’s because they understand what you don’t.
Why call them selfish if they choose to leave?
Wouldn’t it be worse to keep them alive.
We relate to those in commas,
Our medicine is what breathes for us.
The medical staff is people watching us.
We stay here for you,
All the while dying every day.
Our souls hurt and cry,
Seeing the world and how it is.
We know this is not happiness,
False securities in material things.
But we are different
So we need medicine.
Please...no more...let me go.

Courtney, this is an incredibly sad piece and one I agree with to a point. Nobody has the right to say we should or shouldn't feel a certain way and nobody knows how much pain someone can or cannot take. Our lives our ours, but it is my opinion we should fight to the bitter end, if only to say we never let those demons entirely drown us.

Take care and all the best,

    Ben
