oh this is excellent Mihir! I just love the analogy and so will anyone that's ever struggled with sleep (which is everyone at some point or another!). She is a mistress indeed! Great poem! (I can't get my use of '!!!' under control here! ... lol) :-)

Well thank you so much for reading it! Also if you observe closely even though I'm calling sleep my mistress, I turn out to be her mistress. Also this"!!!" makes two of us!!

Almost midnight here, so so tired and yet sleep escapes me.

Sleep is not my mistress but my Rainbows End. So so often out of sight and reach.

    Brilliant work

A wonderful piece that draws the reader along teasing with imagery of the mistress then the final twist that the illusive mistress is sleep. Well done on a very clever and captivating write. Milly x

Mihir this is fantastic as always with your works you weave words and sentences together in this majestic way as to take us there with us but this one really tricked me into believing you were in fact waiting for your 'mistress' then bam that ending. It did make me laugh a little as here I am having had like 30mins sleep (01.29 here) and now I'm awake with all the creatures of the night haha

Hey Em thanks for all the kind words you always shower me with! And the elusive nature of sleep is something that has troubled us all and tbh she still only manages to come around the dawn of light for me!

What can I say about this write which has feelings and enticing
images that takes the reader along with the writer. There was
sadness and it made me as a reader feel for the writer’s loneliness
but the ending brought it all into perspective. My…. I really liked
the way this was penned and how sleep was labeled as a mistress!

I am always thankful for your kind words! I remember putting up my first poem on this forum to find your helpful and encouraging comment on it and around three years later I return to find the same on yet another one! Your comments are always cherished. Thank you.
