Not Your Sleeping Beauty

by CJ Maleney   Apr 4, 2018

I never minded being on my own!
But the dark inside doth creep,
It needed to be buried and left alone,
Always so inquisitive, I couldn't let it sleep.

The aftermath more devastating
Than that spinning wheels needle prick!
I now think she was a lucky one,
For she drifted off quite quick.

I have not been so fortunate,
For it evades and it I still do seek,
No lord of light or hero for me.
Everything just seems so bleak!

No matter how bold a knight you are!
No matter how skilled you are and quick,
Everything can be laid to waste,
By just one little prick.

I will not accept this fate or fortune,
I shall not play an actors part,
But will keep a fire burning,
I will try to warm that heart.

The thorns may grow and peasants talk,
I will not grant then hyde nor hair,
My axe I'll keep on swinging
Until I carve through that despair.

It's kinda of a mash up of different things but one I quite like.

Glad you liked it and glad you got the joke/metaphor too
