Look at the bigger picture

If you listen closely
you can here the worlds pain
and if you think about it
its a wonder we are still sane.

children being beaten,
kicking, fighting, crying
and if you look closely
you'll see inside they're dying.

why in a world of luxury
is there so much pain and hate?
everywhere you look you'll see
crime, theft and rape.

curled up in corners,
pretending to be ok
hiding behind false smiles
barely surviving each day.

blaming themselves for things
which bad people have done to them,
cutting, crying, hurting
with no family, no lover, no friend.

am i the only one who can see
the world and all its pain?
am i the only one who knows
these innocent people are not to blame?

something must be done
to help people put down the knife.
something must be done
before we have destroyed the gift of life.
