As I am filled with a slow fire
Burning surely in desire
Watching my ashes fade to remission
Of all things said and if I listen
To the sultry beat of my heart
I won't know where it ends or where it starts
I can't take this on forever
Gently the frozen ties I sever

All things I ever did say
Don't matter and die on this faithless day

Can't you see just where I was
How all I did was more than enough
Counting the rain drops on the roof
My broken heart is just enough proof
I gave all I had to set you free
The person I imprisoned was really me
Hoping to be something real
Hoping you would know how I would feel

On my broken heart I lay
Pondering my judgment day

I poured out my soul for you
And in this vortex I pulled you through
Sacrificed all I had to make you smile
Finding out I wasn't worthwhile
That everything I've ever done
Was not enough, I never won
I could cry and die for your sake
And my memory you would not take

You didn't care and didn't pay
I fall into regret this shadowed day

My heart beats match the rain
I feel it beat like I feel my pain
Can't you tell how it's been?
Crying and hurting until the end
Wishes fading, not everlasting
On love and happiness I must be fasting
Damned to live in this world of sin
Getting hurt again and again

I look and know it's not ok
That you hurt me that tear-streaked day

It's never going to be the same
And I lay your feelings down to shame
I gave you my love, gave my time
And you made it seem like I did the crime
You want it to be just like it was
But you may want it and that won't be enough
Trust me from what you have taught me
Just because you want it doesn't mean it will be

So as the rain falls and my heart beats astray
Remember me this forsaken day.

Because all I did was always for you
