All i need

by libby   Jan 8, 2006

It's a powerful feeling
to possess waves of a yellow
ocean, colored permanently in
sunset. To be able to tousle them,
manipulate their undulations, even
tame then if I so desire.
I don't. I let them flow.

It's such a privilege
to own bits of mahogany, which
occasionally shine too wetly
with polish. They'll always stay
hard, though, I've got a
lifetime guarantee.

What elation it is to know that
I've got little pink pillows that can whisper
to you, should you happen
to fall asleep. Watch the corners, though -
wouldn't want them to
cut you with sharp
points of full potential.

It doesn't bother me to realize
that my hourglass isn't
perfect. It tells time just as well
as the next. Some days I
get the urge to flip it upside down
again, but always resist, nothing
can be gained that way.

These things are all I need, everything else is just extraneous.
