Right from my heart

by Mona   Feb 15, 2006

I have fought my wars
Pounded on all those doors
Reached out for hands
Still no one understands

I tried to stand my ground
With the enemy around
Tried to take what’s mine
And walk in a straight line

I have tried to see it all clear
Without an anxious heart and fear
I gave up all my dreams
For I knew I would never carry it to extremes

So hard I tried to satisfy my mother
Though she always wanted me to be another
Screaming; “go live with your father!”
I tried hard not to bother

But now I have dug my grave deep
For my eternal sleep
But I’m still standing here
Not even crying a single tear

I’m trying to find a place
Where I will at least have some space
Just to breathe the air that keeps us alive
For in the end, that’s all we can do to survive

This poem is great. I like it alot. The imagery is great, what I believe to be the meaning is great, the flow, the format, the diction, is all great.

    Good job.

I think the only stanza that seems out of place from the flow and the format
    Is this one:

I have carried all this weight upon my shoulder
While my heart gets older and my breath gets colder
I have always tried to be kind
And still everyone thinks I'm just out of my mind
    It got a little lengthy.
