Her portrait in grace

by Elynnka   Jun 17, 2006

Fallen within thoughts he stares at the sky
And all the stars are reflected within his eye.
Memories running fast through his mind -
He searches for a portrait he can’t seem to find.

The moon shines casting silver rays upon his face
As he seems lost within outlines of godly grace.
The lines and colors blend with his imagination
He seems like Pygmalion – in love with his creation.

Her eyes – a palette of blues and greens – captivating eyes,
Eyelashes like batting wings of frail black butterflies,
Her mouth so perfect in its imperfections – blood like red,
A portrait of a fairytale princess that can never be dead.

Silky skin that embraces her flesh – soft and delicate,
White face so pure unlike all the others he has met.
Her silhouette wrapped within the veil of her dark long hair,
Like a virgin amidst golden angles – too beautiful to bear.

She is an idol, to which any mortal would gracefully bow,
Her mysterious gaze makes you feel lost within it somehow
And with every move she casts a spell upon his heart
And the sparkles in her eyes are his way to light the dark…

Sound of violins and scent of roses from afar – he closes his eyes
As he feels her presence getting near – what a wonderful surprise;
“Good evening, my love” her voice gently whispers in his ear
And like an angel in the darkness she shines “Have no fear…”

She put her arms around him and they shared an eternal kiss
As he felt filled with warmth and folded with bliss –
Now the darkness seems no longer a threat but a veil
That protects them from the world as love and peace prevail.

*** note to the reader : Pygmalion was a sculptor that bulit a statue of a female figure and fell in love with it. I'm not sure of the whole story, but in the end, Aphrodite (the goddess of love) turned the statue into a real woman and they lived happily ever after :P ***
