Walls [ of glass ]

by Carlee Ann   Oct 5, 2006

I saw you in the distance
I reached for you, but alas
My palm did not hit yours
But instead a pane of glass

I was confused and hurt
I looked for answers in your eyes
But to my great misunderstanding
I did not find surprise

You looked sadly at the pane
That kept your hand from mine
As if you had expected it
As if you knew the glass we'd find

I tried to read your mind
But all I found were fears
I looked into your eyes
But all I saw were tears

I realized I had done this
I put the glass in place
I made you wait too long and now
I'd lost every ounce of grace

I whispered I was sorry
But it did not penetrate the wall
Just when I thought I had it
I finally lost it all

The guilt will not subside
And the pain shall forever last
You will never forgive me
For this infamous piece of glass

Oh this write was so touching. The flow was awesome and I could totally relate to this write. Somehow I am best at pushing people away rather than accepting them into my life.
