A Wish for Mom

by Richard S   May 15, 2007

They kiss our scrapes and make it better.
They're always there for us.
They cook and clean and wipe our tears.
They hardly make a fuss.

From when we're young until we're old,
They can't stop being concerned.
They never fail to be surprised,
At what we might have learned.

They're quick to jump to our defense,
Even when we're wrong.
And just as quick to let us know,
That life's not just a song.

They try to teach us values.
And hope our ears will hear.
They try to set examples.
And alleviate our fears.

And as we get to older days,
And see her as a person.
We see the sacrifices made,
So OUR lives were not to worsen.

We see her as a woman,
With needs and wants and love.
We see that she had problems too,
She cried for long lost doves.

She put off her own happiness,
To make our days so bright.
And now we hope she can regain,
The time we took so light.

It's time for her at long long last.
It's time for her to stretch.
It's time for her to be again,
The one who doesn't fetch.

It's time for her to find her heart.
And give it to another.
To one like her who gave his all.
And not just to HIS mother.

We've grown so strong within her grace,
And realize her worth.
And now she needs to find the girl,
That once was filled with mirth.
