When You Lose a Child

by Amy   Aug 2, 2007

I lost my cousin to suicide on May 1st 2007 he was only 20years old, so i wrote this peom for his family

WHENâ?¦

Sometimes it might seem life is always uphill.
and a chance is too far to reach.
When you feel your forever fighting a battle,
and an answer is the victory you seek.

When the sun doesn't seem as bright anymore,
and the shadows seem to smoulder.
When the days seem a little longer,
and the nights that bit much colder

When the tears don't seem to end,
and the pain doesn't seem to ease.
Know this wont last forever,
But know it won't heal easily.

So if for some reason your strength disappears,
and the simple things seem a challenge.
Look only one problem in the eye at a time,
and eventually you'll start to manage.

Although this is not the beginning,
it's also not the end,
Just think of the good memories that you have,
think of the good times that you've spent.

Don't give up on what you've still got,
don't break a wounded heart.
Just take each day as it comes,
and know you're family are never far.
