Poet of the Fortnight #8: Poetess (Sept 7 - September 21)

Hmm. When I was younger I wanted to be a teacher or work with animals. I did get to become a teacher for 5ish years. Pre-k is probably my favorite age group. They're potty trained and still have their imagination, but are good problem solvers and I guess are more "teachable". I still would go back to teaching, but I like where I am.

A word I say that makes people laugh? Hmm. Probably when I curse in Spanish lol
I'm not sure of any that people can't stand. No one has told me anything yet lol

LIZ!!! More questions for you, my dear.

Question #6: What are you political beliefs and how have they changed throughout the years?
Question #7: Do you think you write better poetry when happy or sad? Why?
Question #8: What are 5 things on your bucket list? You can make them up on the spot if you don't have an official list :)

Do you stuck by routine or are you a spontaneous person?

    6. I've never really had strong political beliefs on either side. Maybe, at one point from listening to my parents, lol. I'm more a live and let live.

    7. I think I write better when sad. I feel like writing helps me cope with certain things I can't quite talk about.

    8. Hmm
    - Build a house with Tim (husband)
    - Go on a cruise
    - Travel (to some parts of Europe, Benin/Togo in Africa, and some parts of Asia)
    - Meet my favorite author.

simple, possible things, I guess.. except maybe the traveling. Might take a while for that. Lol

Mostly routine. Sometimes I feel like I have to mentally prepare myself for certain things. Lol

you get three minutes to say anything you want on live television and everyone is watching, what do you say?
is there a song/movie/book/poem/etc you go back to whenever you're feeling sad?
    what song best describes you?

I would probably say sorry a lot because I'd be puking everywhere. LOL
Seriously, I may have to think harder about this one because I have no idea.

I'm not sure I have a specific song i have when I'm sad. More like bands lol
City and Colour and Hands Like Houses are some favorites. And, of course, piano music. It's the most calming and relaxing.

Song that best describes me? That's Not My Name, by the Ting Tings because everyone always gets my name wrong. haha

The problem with "live and let live" is a lot of people seem to want to inhibit or harm the way others live. So tolerating intolerance can be a double edge sword. But I won't push you further.

I think you only listed 4 bucket list items! You owe me one.

Did you already mention your favorite artist?

Question #9: What would the house you build be like? Do you already have ideas? Anything you've *always* wanted in a home?
Question #10: What piece of entertainment do you wish you could erase from your mind so that you could experience it for the first time again?

"The problem with "live and let live" is a lot of people seem to want to inhibit or harm the way others live. So tolerating intolerance can be double edge sword. But I won't push you further."

You're totally right! I thought the same when I wrote it and should have worded it better. I'd like to think that I'd have enough courage to speak up and stand up for someone when they're being mistreated about the way they are, who they are, what they look like.

I'm not sure if I mentioned my favorite artist, but if I didnt- it's Dallas Green (City and Colour, and used to do clean vocals for Alexisonfire).

    9. House wouldn't be anything too huge or crazy. I want it to be comfortable and open. We have a lot of ideas for a reptile room. Haha. I've always wanted a library type of room and a hidden room. Luckily Tim likes the idea of the hidden room and wants to make a hinged bookshelf leading to another room. Not sure what that room will be just yet, though....maybe more books. Lol
But the main focus would be something to accommodate reptiles. Or even just a shed dedicated to them.
Every time I go to a customer's house, i always pick out the reptile room if it were my house. Hahaha

    10. It would have to be my first City and Colour concert. It was probably one of the best nights of my life, lol. He was awesome and we got there early enough to be front row, which I appreciate because we're short. I was really anxious and nervous being in such a crowded place and people just so damn close to me! But he came out and started singing and I didn't even think about everyone around me. Except one girl next to me who was sobbing uncontrollably, but I didn't mind. LOL

Fifth on the bucket list: learn to play at least one song on the harp. Even just Mary had a little lamb! Lol

This is noble and good. I'd like to think I'd have enough courage to do this as well.

I like City and Colour. I need to listen to them more I think.

Your future house sounds lovely. I'm getting all kinds of wacky ideas in my head about "reptile rooms." I'm imagining something out of a children's fairytale lol. YES to the bookshelf leading to a hidden room. Sooooo cool. I don't know why more adults don't insist on having their secret room.

Congratulations, you made it through your fortnight as our featured poet! Thank you for being so open and honest with us. It's been a pleasure. I hope you thought/think so too :)
