What is up with people and not voting?

There are several reasons why the number of visits will always greatly exceed the number of votes and comments.
1. Everytime you click on your own poem, that counts as a visit and increases the number.
2. A lot of people are only looking for certain types of poems which you may not write.
3. Different people have widely different tastes in poetry. There are a lot of people who will may read some of your work and find that your style doesn't interest them or doesn't match their taste. They will simply move on. That is probably just as well unless you like comments saying things like "your poem sucks because I hate sad poems that don't rhyme."

The first thing people see on this site is the page with a few acclaimed poems that have received hundreds of votes. That can be deceiving. Thousands of poems are submitted here every week. Those few poems that receive huge votes and acceptance are very rare. There are plenty of excellent poems here that don't receive a lot of votes.

If you vote and comment on the work of other writers here, they will often return the favor by voting and commenting on your work. That is particularly so when the style of your poetry is similar to theirs. If you also try to establish a rapport with other writers here that will also help. Don't be discouraged. Even if your work is exceptionally good, it still takes time to attract good numbers of people to your poetry here.

My poem has been up for probably around a week... had 100 people view it... and had no votes. Certainly makes you wonder if the poem is good at all.
