This does sound like a slow country song to me. Although it is incredibly difficult without actually hearing the music with it.
But the story line was great, and the lyrics have a good moral.
I have one suggestion:
for this line:

"Letting her guard down was just a mistake"

(Now I'm not sure how this is to be sung/how it will go along with the music written with it, but I think it sounds better as:

"Letting her guard down was her biggest mistake"

Just my opinion.
It does sound like an incredibly good song. I like country music, ones with sad lyrics like this.

I like this, very good job

Such a touching song. i love how the chorus changes
and how 2 couplets show different sides of the story and the 3d chorus unite them

but honestly. i didn't really like the bridge.

"He drove away and she's long departed
This is just another song for the lonely and broken hearted"
i don't know why.... it just feels like it doesn't fit this exactly song..
oh maybe it just remimded me of lines from "it's my life"
"this ain't a song for the broken-hearted,
no silent prayer for long departed".
i know you didn't mean to copy, but it's better when it's unique and doesn't remimd of other songs.
well that as just a thought. i'll try to think of another bridge to suggest you and if i make any i'll write u.

but anyway the song was so touching! 5/5

I love it.

This was amazing! i love how you wrote it from both angles. It really paints a picture in your mind. The chorus is perfect because it doesn't overwhelm you with words. I like that. Its like you let the rest of the song do the talking and the chorus just reiterates the main thought. Nicely done! I could so see this as a slow country song! :)

Wow, before I read it I was sort of like: Oh...another love song. And then I read it and was like: WOW!
It was actually really good! I really enjoyed it, and even though I don't actually like country music, I could see myself listening to this. It flowed really well too, and the rhyming you had in it sounded so easy and really made the song.
