What you have is certainly special, and you do a phenomenal job at showing it.
The story within the poem is heartwarming, and inspires me to be able to have hope for finding a similar true love, someday.
I think you may benefit by making sure that 'I' is always uppercase.
It makes the piece easier to read, overall.
