    Silvia,

this one came right from the heart, I can tell.
I have such a man too, in my street. Every time I pass his house I wave at him and sometimes when he is working in his garden we talk for a while, while my doggy tries to grasp his hands. He looks like a man from an old painting with his fluffy silver hair and his red nose:) I sometimes get all chocked up thinking how much his must miss his wife and how lonely he must feel.

    * a huge cuddle*

    Sylvia,

This poem rings true for so many elderly people who feel so terribly alone without their partner who has been there life for so many years.

I work with the elderly and so I hear this so often from the one left to mourn. They really do want to be reunited and often in my experience they will themselves hard enough that they die usually within 12 months of the other. Together once more, no more sorrows for lonely tomorrows.

    You too have a gift.

    Well done

Michael is right, I have seen that happen often too. I witnessed it this past month again: an elderly lady in her eighties that I knew died one year after her beloved husband. It was cancer that took her, but I always feel it is the loss of the will to live is fatal in such cases...

    This poem is heart wrenching.

The old man sits by the window each and every day.
At times a smile erupts on his face.
His lips move slowly and silently,
as if he is talking to someone, unseen by prying eyes.

It is so hard to sit alone talking to our love that has left before us.

Memories of a time long ago, flooding his mind.
A time when he shared life with his beloved wife.
A perfect match for him, one made in heaven.
How he misses the days they spent together.

No matter how many years go by the pain is still there. Nothing can fill those days that were spent with your love.

He remembers the walks, hand in hand, they took.
The talks of dreams they both shared.
A lifetime filled with an everlasting love,
no regrets or sorrows, now no tomorrows.

The tomorrows are the hardest to face. Being alone.

Patiently, he waits for the time when they are reunited,
their life to continue as husband and wife.
Once more his life will be complete, when they meet again,
and he will no longer have to sit by that window, waiting.

The wait for your time is the hardest.

    Excellent job!
    Take care Cindy

    So touching... very lovely write...

the longing of a lover to meet his beloved ... the times that he has shared with her ... and the grief of separation ... very beautifully narrated ...

the first stanza had a little softness that i found missing in other stanza ... but the feelings and emotions are all there...

"Once more his life will be complete, when they meet again,
and he will no longer have to sit by that window, waiting. "
    ^^
loved emotions in the last stanza... it bought a smile to my face... may be because i could feel the happiness the old man would feel just at the thought of meeting his wife again in heaven :)

    wonderful write Sylvia :)
