Price of Devotion

by Triumph   Feb 6, 2009

Gently tracing illusions of smiles upon her skin,
Breathing in the intoxicating scent of her.
Gingerly coming closer than society will allow.
Choosing love over fear, over the cowards way out.

Distantly chasing a seemingly lost mirage,
one who's path is only a downward spiral to hell.
I only crawl deeper into the black pit disregarding myself.
The farther away you drift away, the further I must walk.

Turning away from your ever-knowing gaze,
even so thoroughly hungering for your touch persistently.
Beside you is where I long, keeping you within my reach.
Beneath the love there is absolute obedience to your will.

Pushing you away with my left fist,
reaching for your presence with my right.
Indecision clouds my judgment unnecessarily.
Although, there was never a doubt that I wouldn't stay.

My eyes drift to your figure as you make your destiny,
requests given to the ones who get in your way,
and threats to the ones who don't follow your rules.
As I am truly a song bird helplessly devoted to your whim.
