Mother

Mother, mother, oh dear sweet mother
I was stitched together in the comfort of your womb
A tiny miracle in the making of your flesh and blood
For endless days I spent listening to your life propelling heartbeat,
Pumping every breath of life to mine
When our hearts were finally intertwined together
You gave birth to me

When I saw the first light of day you became my angel for life
When cuddled up in your bosoms I became your very own heart
When I took my very first step you were my inspiration
Because whenever I fall down I knew you were there to catch me
And on my first day to school I was overjoyed with excitement
Alas I became sad because life was never going to be the same without you
And when I grew up I became your crown because you are the queen

You've had to sacrifice and give in order that I may exist
Youve had to cut and heal with the sharpness of your tongue
Youve had to curtain our house so the world may never see our daily struggles
Youre had to mirror my happiness so I may never see my own tears
Youve had to fight my fights so I may live longer and stronger
And in the end you were the rock and substance of my hopes and fears
But you had to let me go to be the man that you taught me to become

Mother, mother, oh dear sweet mother
By your patience I learned that I can be a better man than yesterday
Because of your humility I see the greatness in others
By your kindness I have learned to appreciate the small things in life
By your courage I learned that I can give back life
By your faith I learned that nothing is impossible in Jehovah
But mostly because of your endearing virtues I have learned how to love

Mother, mother, oh dear sweet mother
You are the vessel God chose to assemble my very existence
And for as long as the sun shines you will be the light of my life
I thank you for being a mother from the dawn of my failures
And mostly through the setting of my successes
But alas there are no words truly descriptive of your significance in every aspect of life
Except mother, mother, oh dear sweet mother!
