Birthday 58

by Richard S   Oct 20, 2011

I know you think that 58,
Is not an age to celebrate.
I know you do not feel great,
About turning one year older.

Look back upon the year just had.
So many things to make you glad.
So few to make you feel sad.
Events to make you bolder.

For me its one more year with you,
To show my love for you is true.
To try to make each day brand new,
And make you laugh and smile.

Another year for me to see,
How great my time with you can be.
So on your birthday hear my plea.
Think not it as a trial.

So many love you very much.
I still tingle at your touch.
An unhappy age should not be such.
58 is perfect.

Perfect in its symmetry.
Five from eight will leave you three.
You and me and us are we.
A good time to reflect.

Reflect upon another year,
And look ahead without a fear,
That time will only be sincere,
And keep showing you respect.

Time will always show you young,
Yet birthdays are another rung.
They remind us of the songs unsung.
A youthful spirit you direct.
