In the words of a great poetess Stellar. I loved the message you conveyed , the tone and the flow was excellent..
It was power and determination, it was respect and sadness.
    Awesome

    Out of the whole piece,
The next lines are the ones that got my attention the most.

" They are trying hard to move beyond
    Machismo, misconceptions and what
    lies between."

Those lines are really powerful and true.
The change is happening slowly and I also like the last line.

Rather I like the whole piece but those are the ones that standed the most for me.

Excellent poem, I truly can relate because of my culture, and we really need to see a person for more than their outer appearance or culture. A person appearance and culture is only a glimpse of the person they are inside. Great

Wonderful Karla!!! I wish you would write this on billboards around the world...open some of those closed eyes and hearts.

I too loved this bit especially:

" They are trying hard to move beyond
    Machismo, misconceptions and what
    lies between."
This lit a spark inside of me and made me take notice of the entire poem again!!!

I hate stereotypes in this world. You have written this so well and so beautifully. I love the dedication to your culture and I think this poem is a wonderfult tribute to that culture.

It is heartbreaking that this goes on in the world though! Such things make me angry.

    Awesome poem hun,

Excellent. Taking a powerful message and expressing it in a powerful art form. You pay tribute while addressing the stereotypes/struggles with expressive and powerful words.
