Karla, awesome write!

I think the first stanza from reading the rest of the poem is not referring to an actual war or soldier of some sort. I believe you are talking about the kind of person you are and another person who had an opportunity of being your love but took you for granted. I may be off the mark completely but this is what came to me when reading your poem.

I believe you are saying everything on your once-suppressed mind by this man who took your love for granted and tried to put you in his limitations just to suit what he wants.

This lines are amazing:

only the truth

Such strength in those words, real confidence portrayed here, you know who you are and what you want and this man has tried to deny you what you deserve.

I love how you used the idea of a soldier, somehow who is seen as being strong, but someone who wants to overpower you, make you follow the rules they set not be yourself as you rightfully should.

Confident is a great word like Tara said. This is spoken like a real confident woman who knows who she is and what she wants out of someone. No one likes battles, especially when it comes to love.
