In hard times when you wanted someone by our sides, he/she was always by your side, but no one knew about him/her. That imaginary friend of yours, have walked all those years with you, never left you alone .

Awesome job Andrea, I love this piece:)

Is your imaginary friend your guardian angel and you just haven't thought that way yet?..Not sure but...it's what came to mind immediately when I read this one.

Perhaps you wouldn't consciously write a letter to a guardian angel I guess but...I know I have written many letters that have never been posted...really just to get things off my chest and...normally they would be addressing the person I'm having trouble with....maybe it's the same thing in the long run....interesting to think about though?

I liked this, it could be many things such as fairies, angels, a diary that you have always wrote in and over the years "diary" became your friend. Or indeed it could be an imaginery friend who has been there from when you were young.

    I've written you several letters
within the past forty two years
    of my existence,
I always knew you where there,
though my eyes never looked into yours

    - 4th line, where should be were.
    - In relation to the last lines, this is really clever actually because at first I think well it has to be a person because you relate to their eyes. However, secondly I think this makes me think more on the diary idea as you are saying your eyes have never met. Very thought provoking lines.

    Growing older,
    you kissed my cheek,
    when life's tribulations
    knocked me to my knees.

The one who never failed me-

    - Again, I thought more of like an angel or fairy that you felt watching over you and comforting you, but the more I think about it, metaphorically, a diary kisses your cheeks when you drop your head into it seeking comfort after spilling your thoughts out. so it really still could be anything the reader wants it to be.

It's time I confess to you
    my gratitude, for always
    getting me through the broken
alleys and the grief that stripped me
    of every emotion possible.

I could not have made it,
    if you hadn't reached within
    and electrified my soul,
    with style and grace,
as I allowed you to be born.

    - In these 2 stanza's you express just how much this friend really means to you and all they have done for you. The emotion of gratitude is so clear here and the first thought I got from this was my pen and paper, they are always there for me and always have been and I owe a lot to them for what they have got me through.
    - these stanza's also inspired me to write a poem dedicated to my "imaginery friend "

I have not spoken a word
    of you to anyone,
    keeping you a secret
    from my husband,
but you were always my first.

    - this shows how it remains such a secret for you even from the people closest to you.You feel you have to protect yourself perhaps? In order to do this you need to keep this locked inside in fear of other's reactions.

    I cherish you,
    forever devoted
    I love you
    My Imaginary Friend

    - Sounds like a very loyal friend indeed, more loyal than some of the ones we meet in life and let us down.

I really liked this one Maple, I think there is a message in here that I relate to a lot so your words really stick with me on this one.

    Thank you for sharing xxxxx
