This is so deep and sad, and it really captured my attention with the mentioning of dragonflies.

    Great piece maple...

I agree that this piece was unique its use of dragonflies but effective and it made the poem take on a different tone, it was sad, and sombre and deep, but there were touches of complete beauty, real gentleness and that is what really drew me in.

    Brilliant write

Love letters die upon a misty spring
    as dragonflies whisper broken sonnets
during a morning of endings for two
    lovebirds mending broken wings.

    - this opening truly sets the poem's tone of sadness and loss. Feeling down hearted and perhaps a bit like your are grasping at the last strings of hope. The use of the birds is very powerful because of the broken wings, just adds to the sense of heart break and how the wings need to work and be fixed in order for the birds to keep flying.I really liked the image of the dragionflies whispering poetry, this was so unique and something I do not think I will ever read about again.

    Dreams weave in diagonal patterns
in the eyes of love, for sorrow escapes
the soul, ears forget to hear words
spewed from tongues, ending in goodbye.

    - The dreams here seem very important, they seem to be what is keeping you going but also what is causing the sorrow because perhaps the truth is that they are out of reach and you know they are only dreams? I love the word choice of ears forgetting, it is so true that we sometimes ignore what we do not want to hear in hope that somehow the words and truth will go away. very touching stanza.

Messages written in tear stained paragraphs
were not enough for the great divine to hear
    my pleas, slipping away;

    - Oh - maple. your words are so touching in this one, I have tears in my eyes. These words that you have penned in these paragraphs you mention, they contain your pleas and yet you feel they have been ingored and they were not enough for something or someone to make them be true for you and to heal the pain within you.

    he's slipping away,
    growing far too weary
    for pleading our mother
    of endless nature of life,
    it's time to accept reality,

    - this part here is so sad because it is the tone of giving up, the tone of weakness but not in mind, more in the body and the strength. slipping away is such a powerful phrase because as soon as we read it we feel the tone and we feel it in our hearts, there is no need to think about what you mean by it or what it represents. You mentioin reality here which contrasts the image of the dreams and confirms that the poem was about you trying to hold onto dreams but then at the same time part of you somewhere is always understanding the reality. so sad.

I'll hold him until the dragonfly
takes his soul to the clouds.

    - beaituflly ended maple. You end the poem with the dragonflies again and I think this is such a touching image and peaceful image, very unique instead of choosing light taking the soul or God or angels etc.

You have truly put a unique and beautiful stamp of yourself on this poem and touched our hearts.

although one of your saddest and deepest writes, it is also one of your best ( in my opinion )

Keep writing Maple. It will help ease the pain x

The title drew me in and in knowing what the dragonfly symbolizes I just knew it would be an emotional piece. And I was right... The opening stanza alone speaks of heart ache and it continues through. There is so much of life and love to hold on to, but when you know in the end you will lose your best friend, your soul mate and all the pleading in the world cannot change that fact, its just heartbreaking.

I'll hold him until the dragonfly
takes his soul to the clouds

^^This ending stanza was perfect and is what brought me to tears (10)
