That last stanza, was just so hard hitting MaryAnne, I seriously felt a really deep connection with that last line...
I want to leave a better comment, but I'm just a bit dried up, but I had to say how much this hit me.
    Amazing.

I see the room as a metaphor for isolation/depression... that you walked yourself into this space, a space that you haven't ever been introduced before but you found it... and haven't been able to find your way out. You wonder if you will be able to break out of this room or if it will grow with you the rest of your life.

The person you love left, possibly because of the stress dealing with the isolation/depression... but it was only temporarily, they came back to you.

" The times I ran up the flights
of stairs and you weren't there
    made my skin itch
    to smash into glass or
    wrestle with flames,"

-I LOVE this... it shows the longing you had for this person while they were absent from your life... how every time you ran upstairs, you would expect to see their face...but when realized they weren't there...anger and depression seeped in more.

But alas, you have realized that you can't give in on the fight towards your demons... not the way that you 'almost' gave up on them.

Very promising and hopeful write!!! Love it.
