I really related to this poem and felt quite a connection to your words.

I really liked your idea if things sleeping in your eyes, memories, emotions, little scenes that stay there and lay sleeping and no matter how hard you try to forget them, they are always there.

The tone in the poem was quite despair, hopeless, as if you are giving up on yourself, in hope. I also kept replaying the words I am not a poet any more. This struck me and made me wonder, I often feel I can't write anything, and go periods of time without writing, perhaps when we feel no confidence in ourself or in life, we have no confidence in our writing any more. It made me question that, if we stopped writing poems, but have done in the past, are we still poets? Hmmm.

Anyway.. Just wanted to drop by and check in with your work since I haven't for a while. Enjoyed reading this, thanks

This also is a very beautiful poem Karla. I think you are saying that you can't stay up all night to write anymoreand your iimagination dies when you get tired. I really love the use of your simple metaphors here. They are connected so very well. As poets we feel safe in our dreams and imagine what we write about at times. My metaphor is the one you used for the night. Like the stars bleeding, dreams, and sleepy eyes. I don't think we feel safe in real life but in our writing it's easy to feel inspired. I enjoyed this very much. :)
