That Time Again (Day 11)

by WritingtheStars   Dec 13, 2014

That time of year again,
when carols about Santa
and religion
fill the air
and become stuck in your head.

The time of year again,
when people awkwardly
kiss under funny-looking plants,
also known as mistletoe.
And everyone becomes
obsessed with peppermint.
The smell, the taste,
and use it as decoration.

The time of year again,
when family gives presents,
that get returned a week later,
to people that are only
just blood related
and can barely remember the names.

The time of year again,
of "I haven't seen you in so long"
"Have you gotten taller?"
"You look just your mother/father"
"Wait...who are you again?"
"Are you even related to me?"

It's the time for joy and cheer,
according to all the movies
and songs.
Happy families
and sweet friends.

That time of year again
you wish your life
was a movie.

Sorry Day 11 and 12 are late. I haven't had wifi the past couple days.
