Comments : There's No Quietude

I'll read this through bit by bit.

First stanza: this screams of a sad desperation, and one that many have felt I would imagine. I certainly have. Chaos everywhere, and no peace to be found anywhere.

So much chaos it has enveloped you - indeed, become a part of you: ".....It is in my mind, it dwells in my heart."

Two stanzas in, and an overriding sense of knowing and sorrow as far as I am concerned. I relate to this.

Next two lines: desperately searching for some light that will show the way, but never finding it.

Some watch on, viewing from the outside, with a sort of morbid interest at those who have lost their way, but not many "come to help". - how true this is.

And that's because, as the rest of the poem illustrates, to truly understand and sympathise with those in this kind of despair, you have to feel that darkness yourself. "those who undertstand.....are the ones that are illuminated by darkness all around."

Excuse my late night, drunk rambling comment. I see this poem's meaning to be simply: to understand pain and darkness, you must feel and know it yourself.

    All the best,
    Ben
