Surnames

by Beautiful Tragedy   May 31, 2026

We tested out surnames like two girls who didn’t spend years being abused by the men who initially tried to give them to us-
The universe works in the weird way that
we always end up on similar pages in life.
“Oh but I actually love that, honestly.”
“Okay but like– it’s better than the previous one’s last name.”
We were two girls giggling over video chat,
Researching engagement ring styles like CIA Agents;
Completely aloof over the fact that we both found men that brighten the light in our eyes instead of dimming it.
And it was insane if you ask me-
How well your last name attached to my first,
As if the universe was trying to tell me something my body has known all along.
We tested out surnames like two girls who didn’t spend years being abused by the men who initially tried to give them to us;
And in the midst of the laughter I was thankful that I never took it.
