Very true what you said, sticking around will only make things worse. Unfortunatley when you've only known abuse it seems a far cry to walk away and forget about it.
The title of the poem is perfect. "Tattoo" - emphasising the permanent scars inflicted on ones body and heart. It's a tragic way to live a life - But so many swallow the pain and deal with it; for the real world is all to difficult to handle.
