Prom Queen Dream

It is eight in the morning, a beautiful sunny morning.
My eyes’ first sight is the sunrise smiling from my window.
And as I gently rise to wash my face, I think of you,
And of the exciting day ahead of us.

As a teenager preoccupied about her appearance,
I figure I could lose a few more pounds by skipping breakfast.
And oh the dress! It’s gorgeous and simply lovely!
I cannot wait to put it on and have my thrilled mother take a look.

But it’s not time yet- I have to do my hair before anything else.
I leave the house with my mother to the beauty salon,
Where the adventure first begins – And wow! Look at all
The curls as I am given the last finishing touches.

I arrive home where my dress is winking at me near the closet.
And we see an eighteen year old lady fitting into her dress and
Crystal colored high heels, then accentuating her facial features
With make-up. Finally, perfume here and perfume there.

Then I hear the doorbell ring. My prom date has arrived!
My parents hurry to open the door while I wait…
The door opens-they see a young man in a tuxedo with a rose in
one hand and a limousine waiting for us both.

He sees a stunning lady walking towards him and wonders
If today is the perfect day to confess his feelings of love.
She smiles. He smiles. Then as a gentleman he escorts her to
The limousine where a night of excitement and happiness awaits.

“He looks so handsome. I love him.” She thinks.
“She looks beautiful. I want to confess.” He thinks.
But look, there is the hotel. And now the limo door opens..
We walk with my arm holding his arm as the hotel door opens.

What a sight of the lobby, and the fountain in the middle, and
All our friends with their tuxedos and dazzling dresses!
We find our most closest friends and sit with them on a table,
Which is wonderfully decorated, and wait for the music to begin.

Everything is amazing. And as I dance with my prom date,
He admires me, then sings to me as we remember senior year.
They are ready to announce the Prom King and Queen, but we are
Too busy thinking of how much we love each other..

Did they say our names? Why is everyone telling us to go up the stage?
Another surprise! We are the king and queen of the prom! Together we receive our crowns and dance in the middle of the dance floor. When everyone starts dancing too, he whispers in my ear, “I love you”.

And as the shining stars light up the dark sky on a fresh night,
I close my eyes and I thank God for everything.
Because everything that happened this year, and that happened today
Was not only a reality – it was my Prom Queen Dream.
