THE DEATH OF SADDAM HUSSEIN

by Harry Bryant   Dec 29, 2006

He went to the gallows, his head not bowed in shame,
the people were waiting, for the death of Saddam Hussein,
they walked him up the stairs, there to meet his fate,
many people gathered , for this important date,
his final words over, no bag on his head,
he stayed defiant, until at last he was dead,
the rope around his neck, the knot was drawn tight,
they made sure the knot, was placed exactly right,
the crowd deathly quiet, no one made a sound,
soon they started to pray, their knees on the ground,
the clock was slowly ticking, then they heard a pop,
it was the snap of the rope, as his body made its final stop,
the people were singing, their song sadly sung,
but most of them were glad inside, that Saddam Hussein was hung,
from the families of his victims, whose hearts were sadly sore,
rose a burden from their shoulders, Saddam Hussein would kill no more,
now peace could come into their hearts and into their land,
Iraq's new formed government, had played his final hand.

I like the way you wrote it, but I hate the message. I've written one which goes against your message if you wanna check it out. I cant rate your poem, coz i wouldnt know whether to vote on how it is written or what i feel about what you're saying.

The poem was done. I do believe God should be the only one to take a life though so I really have mixed feelings about this poem.....
