The flow and rhyming in this were excellent. I find nothing wrong with them whatsoever. The only thing I wondered about was:

"As ants run and hide" -- ants? Out of curiosity, why ants? If I were you, I would have used another example, because I look at ants as being pretty much scared of most things in their surroundings, therefore it wouldn't take rain and thunder to scare them; they'd run away at the smallest things.

Anyway, it was a good write.
