Happy Birthday Daddy

by Laura   Aug 25, 2007

Happy Birthday Daddy,
here's one from me to you,
in hopes that every wish you've made,
has and will come true.

Looking back to the old days,
I bet you'd never guess,
that on your fifty seventh birthday,
your oldest daughter would leave the nest.

I bet you didn't expect a family,
complete with animals too,
or a big house to live in,
with a job you love to do.

I bet you didn't expect to have,
a bunch of material things,
you probably thought the highest expense,
would be mommy's wedding ring.

No matter what you may have expected,
you now know what you've got,
we sure are a weird little family,
but we've made it through a lot.

You've done a great job raising us,
but you've got two more to go,
once we're all in college,
it'll be the start of a whole new show.

I guess what I'm trying to say is,
I hope all your wishes are coming true,
because I know all mine did,
when I found out my dad was you.
