Almost lover

by Dawn Davis   Sep 25, 2007

I lay here in the darkness just before the dawn
Still lost in the haze of confusion running in my head
feeling for his presence beside me,
nothing but a pillow to remind me...
Was it all just a beautiful dream?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your fingers touch against my skin
Melting to the sensation it brings
I get lost within your eyes,
Your gaze penetrates my desires
The warm deep flow of two lovers
giving in to one another
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You sing to me the rhythm of passion
taking me in bringing fulfilled satisfaction..
Completely.. Helplessly.
Mending into one another....
Two heartbeats beating as one,
again, are you there?
Hello my lover, were you just my mind,
playing with me all the while?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The morning dew glistens now off the dawn's shadow,
and I remain here, paralyzed in fear of waking..
Dare I not wake at all and live this dream to follow?
Hopeless dreamer I will follow into many tomorrows.
For now...goodbye my almost lover,
Until we meet again...in our dreams...
    Last stanza intentional??? Dawns shadow?
    last 3 lines....over many lifetimes? tomorrows?
    Is this all but a dream.......I often wonder...
    thought provoking poem....
