And it seems so long ago,
you held me close and told me that you loved me.

Now as I sit here, alone, I wonder what happened to our so-called 'love' ...

There was a boy I knew, so long ago,
He seemed so perfect, and I adored him so.

His smile, his laugh, the tinkle in his eye,
"I'll love you forever," said he--The very first lie.

Gotta be perfect; even if perfect isn't me,
Gotta be the best; because that's what they want me to be.

No matter how hard I try and no matter how well I do,
There's always someone better, and I'm always number two
