Why is it okay for a 25 and 30 year old to love each ther.. but not a 16 and 21 year old?

A guy and a girl -CAN- be just frickin friends and not be dating or interested in each other..they might be at one point in time but it might pass...
why cant i -just- be friends with guys and no one tells me to get with them or ask if im with them?
