A Contest

I thought I might make a contest for everybody, since I've been joining a lot of them, and not actually starting any.
It's my first, so I apologise if anything's wrong with it! I hope you all please join, as I want a tough time picking the winners!

Rules:
-All forms of poetry are accepted, sonnet, song, rap, haiku etc..

-The winner will receive 5 in-depth comments from me and an addition to my favourites.

-The one runner up will receive 3 in-depth comments, and their poem added to my favourites.

-Deadline is next sunday (not this sunday) =D

Starlight

The road dark and desolate like her mind
A silver heart and thorn-less rose on a chain
Lying warmly on her center of her collarbone
Tucked under her crimson red shirt and jacket
Tonight wasn't the reason it belonged there
It was her loyal and hidden tribute he earned
The vehicle slowed and stopped in a clearing
In her drunken passion she saw him watching
When the symbol of his true love for her
Glimmered reassuringly in the beautiful starlight

Why was he so effortlessly following the tracks
That were left unmade in the woods they toured
Her openly unmeaning offer of herself was enough
For the truth in her actions shone as bright as bark
To him she was everything, to her he was a memory
That she just couldn't recall under tonights power
The reason he glided amongst trees without crashing
Meant her lost love and betrayal finally caught him
He wasn't a mirage, or a dream, he watched her
Leaving the blood of his heart to glimmer in starlight

Asleep she lay with him haunting her confused state
Making her aware that something couldn't fit
The traitor next to her was not the one she wished
The heart on her chest reminded her of his fatal cry
Yet he couldn't be dead because he was still breathing
Beside her he lay smiling warmly as he dreamed
Wait! That wasn't the one she longed for at all
She thought about all that she drank and wished
That he would wait for her somewhere for her love
All the lone stranger saw were bodies and a knife
Cold and lonely glimmering in the hopeful starlight

"New Beginnings"

Everything was perfect with us,
I knew we would last a lifetime.
You're the perfect one for me,
The only one that I want.

But now I know it's not happening,
Since the day you said, "It's over."
My heart was torn into pieces,
When you said, "I don't love you."

Now I have to move on with my life,
This horrible life without you.
It's gonna be hard to move on,
But my strength will keep me going.

One day you'll realize what you left,
When you realize how much I really care.
But by then it will be too late,
Because you will out of my life.

Stained Glass

Staring through the stained glass
[Of lost memories and dead thoughts]
All the while thinking of you,
Of all the happiness you brought...

Looking through the stained glass
[As you rewrite your life's sorry tale,]
Pen poised, bright eyes a-glimmer
As you forget the ones who failed...

Watching sorrowfully through the glass,
[Which is stained with blood, and cracked,]
As your maid brings in the yellowed letter,
Containing the memories which flood back...

You remember all those old times together
Of games, good fun, jokes and quiet smiles,
[With the malice and the hatred always hiding,
Always waiting, always hating, all the while...]

You remember how you betrayed us all
With a glittery smile and a little wave,
[Did you think that ALL of us would forget
Your dreams, your hopes, your suspicious ways?]

Well, obviously, we didn't ALL forget completely,
Because I've come back for you, haven't I?
[But, just so you really know what you're dealing with,
All I remember of you are your lying lips and face that I despise...]

Glaring silently through the cold stained glass,
As you re-apply your wonderful, deceitful smile,

"Perfection" [Triquatrain]

She's breaking down, she hides her frown.
But they all see perfection.
Deep inside she's broken, and too soft spoken.
She refuses to show affection.

She acts alright, she'll smile so bright.
But truthfully she's not even here.
Just one more time, this isn't a crime.
She won't cry another tear.

She can't do it all, she'll tape the note to the wall.
As the blood flows down her arm.
This is all she knew, they had not a clue.
She continues her self harm.

She'll be fine, it's the end of the line.
They've lost their teenage perfection.
Her secrets were kept well, not a soul she did tell.
No one paid her enough attention.

**A triquatrain is a style of writing that takes on the following pattern:

Locked inside this cold, dark place,
Where nothing warms you through,
A heart still beats inside a chest,
Though death's your dream come true.

Buried deep beneath the pain,
Of all you've loved and lost,
The happiness you just can't see,
Cloaked behind the frost.

Frozen tears of bitterness,
That melt into the mind,
Tainting life, the sweetest fruit,
We ever come to find.

Lips have known the taste of love,
Eyes have seen what's real,
Hands of warmth have touched the soul,
You try so, to conceal.

This one moment steals it all,
You give in to the fear,
You shy away from everything,
That wishes to come near.

Buried in a lonely grave,
You dug inside your mind,
Haunted by the misery,
You just won't leave behind.

This dawn holds fractured triumph of beauty
within magnificence of cyan eyes;
masquerade signifies my baleful defeat-
once hopelessly immortal, built of fractured starlight,
now endlessly bound to garments of your soul.

Tranquility dies;
yet, concepts of sentiments sketch serene notions.

Temptations dress like heinous beasts;
mourn over my weakness, my zealot angel,
for galaxies of sorrow overtake reality,
until I can only hear your heartbeat.
