Gift Registry

I work as a sales associate for gift registry in a department store.

What do you guys think about gift registries? Are they rude, presumptuous or has it come to the point where registering for gifts are normal and expected?

How about if someone does a gift registry for their birthday. I have come across that a lot surprisingly!

Hmmmm.. I have never used a gift registry, it is a little impersonal, but if you are stuck on ideas or don't know what they need, it's a good idea.
