schizophrenic

Does anyone here know what schizophrienia is? It's a major pet peeve of mine, that a lot of people here have quotes that would be funny, if they weren't so sad. Schizophrenia is not multiple personality disorder. Schizophrenia is "Any of a group of psychotic disorders usually characterized by withdrawal from reality, illogical patterns of thinking, delusions, and hallucinations, and accompanied in varying degrees by other emotional, behavioral, or intellectual disturbances. Schizophrenia is associated with dopamine imbalances in the brain and defects of the frontal lobe and is caused by genetic, other biological, and psychosocial factors. "

Multiple personality disorder is "an hysterical neurosis in which the personality becomes dissociated into two or more distinct but complex and socially and behaviorally integrated parts each of which becomes dominant and controls behavior from time to time to the exclusion of the others called also alternating personality."

I don't want to offend anyone, I just want to let people know what they're talking about.

Sorry, it just makes me frustrated when people say stuff like "I used to be schizophrenic, but we're ok now" That might be funny, if it said "I used to have multiple personalities, but we're ok now."

Not trying to sound superior. Just wanted to try to alert some people.

i did a report on schizophrenia...i think it would suck to have it. It sounded really intense. I don't have ne one related to me that is schizophrenic...but i know enough about it to know that it's not something to be kidding around about
