Inspired by music.

I think its safe to say that 90% of us here love music, probably 65-75% were inspired to write poems because of the lyrics of a particular song and not by a poem or a poet or maybe inspired by both, poems and music. My point, for those who were inspired to write poems because of music, who is/are the ones responsible for making you write or inspired you to write more and why. You can probably explain things by stating your fave song or songs, if you like, you can also give some lines from your fave songs of your particular fave artists... Ok, mine, so many, but I must say, Joni Mitchell and Carole King, not because of a single song, but because of their whole album Court and Spark, and Tapestry. Man, those two albums were glued to my player for who knows how long, lol. Try listening to em and youll know what I mean... Anyways, what about you guys? :D

I am so glad you posted this!!!!!!!
    :D

Well...this may sound crazy, but I am inspired by screamo music.
When you really listen, and look up the words, lol, the lyrics have good meaning...Well they have good meaning to me.
Anyways, I am inspired by a band called "Black Veil Brides". They have a song/music video called 'Knives and Pens'.
It really helped me...it helped to know I'm not alone...that other people go through the same thing I do....Being called "emo" and "goth". Being told to cut yourself...

    Here are some lyrics:
"Lay your heart down the ends in sight.
Conscience begs for you to do what's right.
EVERYDAY ITS THE SAME DULL KNIFE!
STAB IT THROUGH AND JUSTIFY YOUR PRIDE."

Lets see... a few were inspired by slipknot lol
"my flaws are the only thing left that's pure
can't really live can't really endure"

    a few by apocalyptica
"I try to make it through my life, in my way, there's you
I try to make it through these lies, that's all I do
~I'm getting tired of this shit
I've got no room when it's like this
But you're more to me me just deal with it"
    so many more lol

Yes Dib, KNIVES AND PENS is that video I want you to go watch! Lol.(:

Here's some more lyrics from Black Veil Brides -- this song is called NEVER GIVE IN:
    "Never give in,
    Never back down,
    Never give in,
    Never back down,
    When your life feels lost,
    Fight against all odds!
    Never give in,
    Never back down! ."

I always feel lame saying this, but i don't actually know who the people are in the bands i love. i'm more for the music itself, i only know names of two people from two bands lol that's Adam Gontier and Nikki Sixx -_-
so sorry, i don't know who Joey is...

  • Hallucinostic

Nah. aint lame, to me its not, lol. Im like that too, sometimes, unless I really dig the song... Joey Jordison is one MANY members of Slipknot, honestly, he and the vocalist are the only ones I know, but Im really not that familiar with Slipknot, just a few songs. :D

^agreed. some of their songs at least (hear me now, young) but i know a decent amount of slipknot i gues lol

and i've got an old song lol that kinda went towards some of my poems: pink-hazard to myself
"Everyday I fight a war against the mirror
I can't take the person starin' back at me
    I'm a hazard to myself
    Don't let me get me
    I'm my own worst enemy
Its bad when you annoy yourself
    So irritating
Don't wanna be my friend no more
    I wanna be somebody else"

I LOVE their song Hear Me Now. I have it on my iPod.(:

Some lyrics from Hear Me Now:
"Where to go from here? What road to travel on?
I spent my whole life choosing, and I always chose wrong.
Will I try to have the will to be alive?
Will I try because I've never seen the light?
Blow it to the ground and it's now you see,
You spent your whole life taking the best of me"

Hmm....I think I've heard that song you're talking about...

Quite a few of my poems are inspired by black metal, because those kind of lyrics are often very poetic and beautiful. A few gothic, some from power metal and the rest are just plain silliness.

Haha, I love the bands/artists that most of you have been naming: Black Veil Brides, Five Finger Death Punch, Apocolyptica, Pink, etc. I like most of their songs, but as of right now my favorite songs to listen to are "Not Strong Enough" by Apocolypitca, "Raise Your Glass" and "Fucking Perfect" by Pink, "Perfect Weapon" by Black Veil Brides, "Far From Home" and "Bad Company" by Five Finger Death Punch. In general, I like a wide variety of genres and bands/artists, but mostly anything rock. I'm always looking for new songs and bands/artists to download on my ipod.

Currently my favorite songs that I've been listening to repeatedly and that inspire me (either by their lyrics or simply just the music) are:
    - "Fading" by Decyfer Down
    - "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga
    - "Fireworks" and "E.T." by Katy Perry
    - "This is What Rock and Roll Looks Like" by Porcelain Black ft. Lil Wayne
    - "Don't Leave Me Behind" by We Are The Fallen
    - Carnival of Rust and Twilight Theater albums as well as other songs such as "Can You Hear Me" by Poets of the Fall
    - "Her Name is Alice" and the entire Sound of Madness album by Shinedown
    - "Runaway" and "Take Back the Fear" by Hail the Villain
    - "Denied" by Sonic Syndicate
    - "The Illusionist" by Scar Symmetry
    - "Holy Diver", "My Last Serenade", "The Element of One", "My Curse" and "The Arms of Sorrow" by Killswitch Engage
    - "Indestructible", "Inside The Fire" and "Another Way to Die" by Disturbed

This is just to name a few, haha.

have you heard the other new apocalyptica, the video continues from the end of not strong enough, it's called broken pieces with lacey from flyleaf
"as you showed me your scars i only held you closer
and as the light in you went dark i saw you turning over
i wanted always to be there for you
    and close to you
    but i'm losing this
and i'm losing you" <-- my favorite part
