Day 7: Marathon - Kite Runners

Rules/guidelines:

- Use this thread to post your poems. Don't post anything other than poems in it please. Only start when the hour starts: Poems posted before or after the hour (PnQ time) won't be counted!

- You can only take one option/time slot.

- You cannot post a poem until 2 OTHERS member have posted before you. Work it out in your clubs what poems you are doing each.
NOTE: If you want to use your simplify lifeline this round, you can use it so that only 1 person has to post before you, so that way the contest will be achievable with 2 people. Obviously though the more people you have the easier/faster it is, (so long as everybody is organised!)

- 1 point per poem (out of 50 points total, bonus points for more than 50 poems) 50pts for average quality, 100pts total (before bonuses)

- Use the 30 or so minutes before to organise who will take what poem and get writing, ready to hit the ground running when the hour starts. Organisation and teamwork is key here.

Once you have done one lap, you start again! Note: Start at prompt 1 and go in order. If you are doing prompt 3, you can't post that until somebody has posted prompt 2.

1. Haiku - Round 1

Volcano

Lava simmers ground
trees become a burnt out stew;
volcanoes can't cook.

2. 8 Line Poem - Round 1

The wind has never felt so perfect,
as it slid across my face accompanied
by the scent of salty ocean water.
I've missed these days that winter steals
forcing sandy beaches to become paths to walk upon.
Life seems much more graceful as I gaze upon
this beautiful seemingly everlasting bringer of life.
I've missed swimming with the fish.

Titanic

I wrecked your oh-nothing-can-sink- my-ship
For I was the iceberg in the ocean
who never thought would be hit by your titanic.

But don't blame the ruptured on me,
it was you who hit on me.

I've enjoyed these writes,
challenging but expected,
the pressure brings stress.
Bringing out the best of all,
proud I am that I took part.

Why do I have to rhyme?
I dislike to think of words with similar sounds
on top of that, does it look like I have the time?
oh well, that's life, I have no other ground.

It's time to finish this verse
but it's not really what I want
it looks neither as a prose
but to write something else? I can't.

6. Spring - Round 1

Flowers burst to life full of vibrant colors,
as the radiant sun shares it's warmth willingly.
An amazingly blue sky without a single cloud
in sight as a salty breeze whisks away the depression winter brings. Once again I've been awakened by the songs birds choose to sing.

There it was,
coming from a flower
a perfume,
an exquisite aroma
from her neck,
awaiting in the garden
for a sun to arrive.

The sun has slipped past the horizon
and with its disappearance, my light fades.
The light of happiness that cloudless skies
and vibrant sights of nature bring..
Everything seems less magical
when darkness consumes the light..
So I hope I'll sleep tonight.

Dear most celebrities:
I understand it must be enjoyable
to live such a lavish life.
Visiting places across the globe
many may never have the chance to see.

Do not forget the people in pain..
The children who struggle daily to maintain.
Life may seem like the biggest joy to you,
let the unfortunate share that joy too...
Use your celebrity status wisely..

The flag waves good bye
to the wind that comes and greets her at random times
The flag also cries
as the rain tells her a story of her life.

Our flags, represent our countries,
but also the emotions that each have.

the years go by so fast
but never they take anything away from us
they always give us something new
responsibilities is one
sadness, or joy, happiness who knows
but it's up to one to decide
what to do with what each year
may have in store for us .

In a time of turmoil and hatred,
our youth found a way to come together.
Foolish eyes frowned upon us,
sending demoralizing stares,
and all we had was each other..
Each other was the only necessity

Spring into a new season
jump, rejoice
it's the time to feel at joy
Spring is here
For everyone to enjoy.

Feel fresh, its the warmth
that comes after the winter cold.

Late nights seem to haunt me
with vivid memories of 'us.'
The sparkle in your eyes when they met mine,
the aroma of your favorite perfume,
and your smile that lightened
even the most tenebrous day.
Those memories never leave me,

I'm believer of second chances,
even though I don't give any
when I've been let down too many times.
At least not until time has passed,
years perhaps, then I forgive,
I forget, I recycle useless memories,
to create a space for better ones.

Right or wrong is nothing to ponder,
until later in my years.
I do as I'm told in the name of my country,
protect and serve for rights all deserve.
Freedom, I believe in freedom,
and I risk my life for the freedoms we see.
Yet I return home feeling alone,
lost in this world, no one understands me.

To live is to die
and to die is not to live.
then if I want to die
I first need to live
for if I live,
I would then die.

I've been to Antarctica,
and dove into those frigid waters
to see what's hidden below those blocks of ice.
I've walked through the Great Pyramids
and took a visit to Rome,
all through my computer screen.
Imagine a life without technology,
it's a life I would not want to lead.

Life is an adventure, be happy to live
and experience all of it's wonders.
Darkness would not seem so disheartening,
had we not known the beauty light possesses.
Would anyone ever be sad,
if happiness wasn't introduced to us?
I ponder a lot and what I've come to is this:
life is an adventure be happy to live.

I often wonder why Peter pan could fly
It was because he was in a magical land
where believing could give people
invisible wings.
But kids,
never attempt to fly, or take off
from the second floor of your house.
