why do people go and private message people saying whats wrong with them to make them feel bad? do they have nothing better to do? dont they know how it feels to be criticized about your poems? it just pisses me off! why do people do it?!

    Hm...Oh, I've got a question for you!

Who really believes that a thirteen year old has her poetry published in 4 books and is planning on publishing her own?

    I certainly don't.

Not when it sounds like every other suicidal teenagers poetry on this site.

    Sorry, just my opinion.

Well why do you give people the options to send you private messages if you don't want to receive them...SOLUTION ONE: Remove the option from your profile

Secondly what do you expect when you post your poetry online and request comments and feedback within a site like this? SOLUTION TWO: If you dont like people giving you honest feedback, keep your poetry to yourself or expose it only to people you know who are guranteed to sugar coat the truth for you.

I have trouble believeing that too.

If it only caught the attention of two people on a site of... how many? 100,000s? Then how would it catch the attention of four publishers?

  • Mandy

eh im only 14 and ive been published in like 3 or 4 books...

hahahah...ok sweet heart....that's hardly believable, shut up before you get whiplashed.

i believe with ness and babyblew and all those people. If you expect nothing but praise, your not a true poet. I might have given you credit because your only 14, but I'm 15 so I can't act all high and mighty.
Don't lie like that, it's embarassing. If you mean books as in your schoolmagazine...I might believe you.
your obviosly an attention seeker and can't take critisizm. Your looking for sympathy. you don't deserve to be on this site unless you take it seriously.

I never said it was impossible for a 13 year old to get something published, not at all.

I would not have said anything if I didn't think I had more than age to support my argument. The level of writing she is at would never be seriously published in 4 different books. It's very unlikely.
I'm really not trying to be rude, but look at her profile, she made quite a few spelling and grammar mistakes.

And Mandy, is it 3 books, or 4? Do you not know how many books your poetry is published in? Just wondering...

Yea alright I realize I was being rude too.
I was in a bad mood because I had recieved comments from people on something and they just seemed totally idiotc to me considering they comepletly misinterpreted what I was saying,

    But anyway

I quite seriously don't believe that you've been published in three or four books, not because of your age, just because it sounds rediculous. If you tell me the names of those books and the names of your poems, I would gladly look them up and write a sincere apology for not believing you. However...I doubt you'll be able to do that.

From my experience age is often one of the things that publishers focus on when considering publishing a poem. Usually if it's from a 13 year old they note the little experience and education that person would have.

I personally have been published once... but that was in a school anthology book :-P

Who cares, the problem with this website, is this. Everyone is immature, who cares, if you know someone is lying, ignore them. They are just trying to get attention. As for rude comments, I agree with everyone else, stop accepting criticsm if you can't take it. Although, that is the point of this website. And guess what, I have also been published, once, in a school anthology book. Take care yall, no offense meant, but it is the truth.

Yes Jason I agree with you. I just get carried away with the things people say sometimes, and I have to write back because it just infuriates me sometimes how incredibly thick headed people can be when they think up lies or rediculous comments, and I know they want attention, but I'm working on that.
however I don't agree with your comment on not accepting critisizm. The people here who expect nothing but praise are either:
people under 14 (I'm not that old so I know I sound hypocritical but whatever)
people who have been isolated to untalented ass-kissing poets who only write comments like "wow! your poem was amazing!!! check out some of mine!!"
people who think they're geniouses in their own heads

all together...people who shouldn't be called poets.

I think that if your a true poet and appreciate the work, you would accept critisizm with grace and gratitiude. (as long as it has a purpose and isn't just meaningless bashings)

okay...Ive entered into those stupid poetry contests online, and ive gotten emails that says ive been published. thats why i was unsure of whether it was 3 or 4 times. why would i lie about that? i was just saying that its not hard to be published, not even for teenagers. Maybe i just said it too nonchalantly. My poem "thinking of you" was awarded the shakespeare trophy of excellence, from the Famous Poets Society and it was published in its 2004 edition the website is famouspoets.com. thats the only one i bought. "I'm so glad" was published in the American Poets Society 2004 edition (website americanpoetssociety.com i think) and my poem "Red Sox" was published in the boston globe fanmail thing. i dont think that counts though. i guess that's 3. im sorry if you thought i was bragging, it was just poetry books.

You sound like a typical 13 year old. Hence the title of this post, the whining and the simple dead-set lack of intelligence used of your behalf. Why on earth do you allow emails (as said above) if you cannot handle critisim? If the whole point of you writing poetry is to gain votes and comments, then you must be 100% willing and able to accept the good critisim and the bad. Obviously you are far from that stage - so, stop complaining!
