PnQ 2014 Poem of the Year

Get your reading glasses ready and your thinking caps on! I thought it would be nice to hold our end of year awards, the PnQ Oscars if you will (open to catchy name). With the crowning glory being: Poem of the Year!

Every member gets the chance to nominate ONE of their poems for consideration for poem of the year. Weekly winners from 2014 will also be considered before a shortlist is made and further judging begins.

I will have more details over the weekend but just wanted to mention it now seeing as its a busy time of year. You can send in your favourite poem from the year to me (yes you can nominate yourself) or to the mod account.

I encourage everybody to nominate other peoples poems: send me in 5, 10, 20 if you want. There is no limit to the poems you can nominate from other authors so don't be shy.

There will be other awards also: such as poem of the month, newcomer, unhearlded talent, etc etc.

So get sending me in your nominations and watch this space!

I personally will not be nominating my poetry. I would rather nominate other poems I feel worthy. This is OK correct?

I agree, Andrea, but if anyone wants to Colm is saying that's ok & the nominating process is anonymous.

Andrea, I should have mentioned, you are allowed of course to nominate as many poems as you want from other authors, so long as they were written in the calender year 2014. The more the merrier. Seriously, flood my inbox. I want to wade through poems :)

I'd like as many poems and people as possible involved and in with a chance so don't be shy to nominate one of your own poems. Look at it as if you are submitting it for a contest.

I'm going to give until WEDNESDAY 17TH for people to nominate poems. All poems that won a weekly contest this year will automatically be entered and considered. Then, the poems will be narrowed down to a shortlist, where a mixture of judging and public voting will decide the winners.

Keep an eye on this thread for updates. I haven't got it all figured out fully yet but I wanted to give enough time for people to send in poems.

Sorry that this got put into a box and left for a long sleep. With the Christmas craziness I didn't get around to checking out all the poems and the thread got a little forgotten amongst the others.

Basically, I'm going to extend this until next week. Get your nominations in ASAP (thanks to those who have already sent them). I still haven't gotten round to collecting all the weekly winners poems from the year so when I get that done, I'll have a better look at the ones sent into me and get judges in to help me out.

I'm getting a mass pm ready to send out now so keep an eye for that.

NB - Remember to put the link to the poem because it will take me too long if I have to manually search each poem.

I was really looking forward to it.

We have approx 200 poems for this so trying to go through them and will post further details when I have them :)
