So sad to see that the last two posts on the site are now one day old...I honestly don't know why, do you? I've had a lot of computer problems these last few weeks which have prevented me from participating much but even taking that into account...I don't find the site hard to navigate so...is there another problem I'm unaware of? I think Janis is trying hard to iron out some issues and I hope, once that's done, people will slowly come back....I've always related my relationship with this site (as I'm sure others have) with part of the lyrics to Hotel California"you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave" :) Yep...hope to see a return of people I miss soon:(

Ok so I've been away for 2 weeks battling depression and loathing in my anger at the new site. And it seems its not getting better. I miss the white background for one. This background makes my eyes burn. I miss the front page sign in and seeing what your favorite poets commented on. I miss the old layout, the drop down menus are crap imo. I've been shadow stalking lately and I've seen posts where we are limited on what we can say and our minimum word count? Are you serious? You are essentially limiting half of the poetry forms with that. I've also seen there are likes and dislikes now. That is a joke too imo. Stop being something you are not. Stop being Facebook. The one thing that is going to make me stay away: there are no more awards, people need a reason to come here, without awards there is no reason. I definitely was a core member granted off and on. And i feel isolated. I miss the old layout. I know besides me one other person is not coming back.

    Jamie,

I have to be honest and say that, while I agree with you that some of the changes maybe aren't for the best, I have to strongly disagree with your summation of the awards being the reason to log on. Primarily, people should write because they want to and if people like it, great - that's a bonus. As are the awards: they're a nice extra but certainly not the reason to write/post primarily. If you are writing solely for that purpose, then surely the words just become hollow and, ultimately, the words are really all it's about, in my opinion.

On another note, what words limit is placed (to the mods/anyone who knows) I posted a senryu recently and that held up.

"without awards there is no reason"

Then you are here for the wrong reasons.....

Janis has changed the coloring and font sizes a bit and that means a great deal to me.....

Change is always difficult, but in the end can be a good thing...I'm choosing to remain positive.

Janis added back the account activity page, it's under your name -> what's new and "texts of your favourites" shows comments and poems made by your favourite authors. Awards will be added back in soon as well, it's on his to-do list, he's currently working on implementing the search feature which is taking a bit longer than anticipated. There's still a lot more to do, but it'll be a process. He also slightly changed the background from pure white to to an offset color, and made the font dark grey so it's easier on the eyes. He also fixed the contest bug and the age glitch (people were unable to update their age).

Andrea, well said. 'remain positive'. I have to admit to being a little negative originally, but Janis really is beginning to polish things up nicely, now. The favourites' feed is a massive bonus, in my opinion.

I'm sorry, I know that a lot of people did not like the comment about awards being the reason for someone to log in - but I have to say if you like what you do enough and you care about having a place to write or people to chat with enough than the awards come naturally, and that's really all they should be. I mean sure you could aspire to have a certain one because you think it will be a challenge or personal goal, but there is no way that showing off a little bit should be your main reason for coming to this site. If that's what you're looking for, consider writersnetwork.com.

Also I like that the colors are a bit easier on the eyes. And I'm very glad that the search feature is something being worked on currently. I am working on a personal project and it is taking way too long to sift through my own pieces without a search!

Not to rush, but I am curious, when clubs are up to date are there any noteable differences to expect yet?

    Hi guys

I can't find any 'poet search ' facility anymore? I guess Janis is aware of this and will reinclude this in the new website updates..?
(it's the facilty that allows you to search for a particular poet and their work, by just typing in their user id.)

    Peter..

    Search has been implemented!

The search box for poems can be found on the top of the poems page:
    http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/poems/latest

The search box for poems can be found on the top of the quotes page:
    http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/quotes/popular

The search box for poems can be found on the top of the poets page:
    http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/poets/list/

Regarding clubs, it's not on the immediate to-do list but it's on the to-do list!
